Harold Kenneth 'Dusty' Miller, 86

Harold Kenneth “Dusty” Miller passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at his home.

Harold was born to Bernice and Evans Miller in Lakewood, New Jersey, on April 1, 1933. At the age of 5 he watched the Hindenburg fly over his childhood home. He received his education in Barnegat, New Jersey, and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955 as a radio operator. He married his high school sweetheart, Letitia Jamieson, in 1956 in Ship Bottom, New Jersey, and they had four children. He had his own appliance business for eight years and then moved to Swan Lake in 1966. He was employed as a logger with Royal Logging. Then, he was employed at the Swan River Correctional Center, first as a supervisor counselor and then as the security manager, retiring after 27 years.

Harold originally started the Swan Search and Rescue and was involved in raising and racing pigeons. He also greatly enjoyed woodworking, carving, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his children Debbie Smith of Phoenix, Arizona, Eileen (Kevin) Drew of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kenneth (Cyndy) Miller, Belleville, Arkansas, Lois (Dale) Johnson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and special Daughter Donna Weeks, of Ferndale.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations maybe given to Swan Chapel Children.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Swan Chapel, Swan Lake.
