911 dispatchers give life-saving advice

Dispatchers at the Flathead 911 Emergency Communications Center coached a parent in CPR on their 5-month-old baby when the child was not breathing. The baby started breathing and moving within a couple of minutes and was crying by the time law enforcement got to the house.

Kalispell Police received a call with noise in the background but no one on the line. Unsure of whether the noise was someone trying to talk, a dispatcher called the number back to find the caller had accidentally dialed 911 while in a fast food drive-thru.

A shoplifter reportedly returned to the scene of a previous crime, according to a department store employee. The woman entered the store, acting the same way she did the last time she stole clothes, taking a large number of items into a dressing room with her camouflage purse in hand. Officers arrested the woman on two warrants and took her to jail.

A man in a green truck was reported for suspicious activity while waiting outside a business for his wife to get off work.

Someone reported witnessing a woman in a gold truck run into a power pole and then drive off. The impact reportedly caused significant damage to both the pole and the truck.

A man called police claiming he’d been knocked out and robbed. He stated he thought he’d been unconscious for approximately half an hour before waking up in the snow a couple of blocks from his home, his debit card and cash missing. The man refused medical attention despite having “blood all over him and a big [expletive] bump on his head,” because he was not supposed to be going out anyway. Responding officers could find no signs of an assault, but dispatch believed the man was intoxicated.

A woman said her wallet, with $900, her Social Security card, credit card, checkbook and driver’s license were stolen out of her unlocked car.

A passerby decided to be super helpful to law enforcement by reporting a bad accident after driving by. The caller was unable to provide any useful information other than a broad location because they did not bother to stop to see either of the two people in the vehicle were injured.
