Gary Edward Schultz, 67

Gary Edward Schultz was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Kalispell, to Edward G. and Edith (Lien) Schultz. He attended Boorman School until the family relocated to Columbia Falls where he graduated from high school in 1968. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Montana, and a second master’s and Ph.D. in physical anthropology from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Gary was a researcher, academic instructor, chemical dependency counselor, long-haul truck driver, Alaska fishing boat crewman, and an expert in hide tanning, scuba diving and custom knife making. He retired in 2017.

He died Feb. 22, 2019, at the age of 67, was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his sister, Janice, his close friends Buck and Robert, and several cousins.

Gary was sensitive, kind and gentle — a good man, who appreciated his family, friends and good neighbors. He is much loved and greatly missed.

He requested no services.
