Woodstock Trio plans inaugural performance

| March 7, 2019 11:59 AM

The Woodstock Trio will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Nancy Cawdry Gallery, 204 Wisconsin Ave. in Whitefish. Admission is free.

The trio was formed by music instructor Steve Eckels to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The mission of the group is to preserve and perform music of the 1960s peace movement and to provide an opportunity for hippies and other people interested in the culture of the 1960s to gather together.

The group plays creative arrangements of music that was either performed at Woodstock, or was popular at the time. Featured artists include The Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Joni Mitchell, Janice Joplin, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and others. The trio will also feature well-known guest musicians from the Kalispell area.
