Norma Jean Stubblefield, 85

Norma Jean Stubblefield, 85 years of age, died on March 5, 2019, of natural causes.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1933, to Jeff and Flossie (Fulkerson) Lewis in the Western Kentucky town of Echols. She attended school in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Ahrens Trade School in Louisville, Kentucky.

She completed course work to become a certified dental assistant. She initially worked for dentists in Louisville and Los Angeles. In 1962, she was introduced to Eddie Kenneth Stubblefield, who was an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). After a whirlwind courtship from May to December, they were married on Dec. 29, 1962, at the Broadway Church of the Nazarene in Louisville. They served as partners in ministry for 45 years.

In June 1968, a son, Kenneth Lewis was born, and in December of 1969 they adopted their daughter, Melora Ann.

Norma worked as a dental assistant/office manager off and on for 25 years. She then worked as a childcare provider specializing in infants and toddlers, something that brought her much joy.

After retirement, Norma and Eddie moved to Kalispell and spent the next 20 years traveling the world.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Willard, and sister Phyllis.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years; brother, Larry Lewis; son, Kenneth (Christine Meier); daughter, Melora Williams (Jim); and grandchildren, Jake Williams, Mackenzie Williams, Hailey Stubblefield and Alaina Stubblefield.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. A celebration of life will be held in early summer.
