Rural fire district boards have vacancies

Flathead County Commissioners are searching for people interested in serving on rural fire district boards for terms ranging from one to three years.

There are a dozen districts looking to fill trustee vacancies, including Big Mountain, Bigfork, Evergreen, Martin City, Somers and West Valley rural fire districts. Some locations are looking to fill more than one position.

Submit letters of interest to the clerk to the Board of County Commissioners by 5 p.m. April 12. The positions are slated to begin June 1.

There is also one position to fill an unexpired term until the next election at the Coram/West Glacier Rural Fire District for a one-year term.

Those interested in applying must be an “elector,” or be qualified to vote under state law, and must reside in the district itself or hold a title to lands within the district. If applicants are landowners, they must present proof of payment of taxes on the lands in order to be considered for the position.
