Kalispell Krushers fundraiser

The Kalispell Krushers Special Olympics team is selling raffle tickets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Super 1 in Kalispell. Proceeds go toward attending the fall Special Olympics State Basketball Games.

FVCC spring concerts

Flathead Valley Community College’s Music Department continues its spring concert series, featuring students enrolled in classes and private lessons.

Today, 2 p.m. — Recital featuring students from Performance Study, Applied Music I, and Applied Music II courses, room 144 of the Broussard Center for Nursing and Health Science.

Today, 7 p.m. — FVCC Chamber Ensemble concert in the large community room of the Arts and Technology Building.

Sparrow’s Nest fundraiser

There will be a celebrity bartending fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. today at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Tips will benefit Sparrow’s Nest of Northwest Montana shelter for homeless teens.

Pie auction

Swan River Community Hall’s annual pie auction gets under way at 7 p.m. today and the hall, located at Montana 83 across from Echo Lake Cafe and Swan River School in Bigfork.

Admission is one pie or $5 per family.

The auction raises funds for the preservation of the historic building. For further information, call Gary Wilson, 837-2674.

Clothing giveaway

The Church of Christ hosts its annual community clothing giveaway Saturday at 241 Stillwater Road in Kalispell. For more information, call Diane, 270-7016; or Mary, 752-7579.

Tuber sale

The Montana Dahlia Society has its annual tuber sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kalispell Center Mall at the west end of the mall.

Tubers are $2 each or six for $10. The group hopes to have dahlia plants in bloom, in addition to cuttings and seedlings available for $5 each.

Members will be available to answer questions about growing dahlias.

Spruce Up Evergreen

Volunteers are needed for the Spruce Up Evergreen event. Meet at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Glacier Bank, 2199 U.S. 2 E. A taco lunch will be served to volunteers from 11 a.m. to noon. Call 758-4310 for more information.

Literacy Spellebration

The Literacy Center of Northwest Montana is having its Spellebration event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Kalispell’s Gateway Community Center, 1203 U.S. 2 W., Suite 26.

The fundraiser pits teams of Scrabble players against the clock for a chance to win prizes. Gather a team of four players or join a community team.

Entrance fees are $25 per person, or $10 for students and senior citizens. To register, call 752-7266.

The Literacy Center of Northwest Montana is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting increased literacy to all ages through volunteer-based programs.

Packing clinic

Back Country Horsemen have their spring packing clinic at noon Saturday at the RMR Saddle Club, 2332 9th St. W. in Columbia Falls. The focus will be on the back country trekker and stock user. Whitefish festival

Whitefish Community School’s School Rocks concert and community festival takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Cypress Yard, 204 Wisconsin Ave., in Whitefish.

Advance tickets are $7; Tickets at the door. Children 10 and under are admitted free.

10-minute plays

Flathead Valley Community College’s Theatre Arts Department presents its 10-Minute Play Festival 7 p.m., today and Saturday in the campus theater of the Arts and Technology Building.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

‘Missing Sisters’ presentation

Love Lives Here and FVCC’s Montana American Indian Scholars Program are joining together to present “Missing Sisters — Addressing the Crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women,” from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Flathead Valley Community College, room 139 in the Arts and Technology building. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited.

The short documentary, “When They Were Here,” by Blackfeet/Shoshone filmmakers Ivan and Ivy MacDonald will be followed by a panel discussion of Indigenous women leaders from across the state. Panelists will discuss the first-hand, real-life impact of the crisis in Montana.

Democrats spring dinner

Flathead Democrats host their annual spring dinner Saturday at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. A social hour starts at 4:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m.

Guest speakers include Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, Maylinn Smith, co-director at Indian Law Clinic, and Monica Lindeen, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. Honored guest is Earl Old Person, honorary lifetime chief of Blackfeet Nation.

Dog race

Run with your dog and support the Hugh Rogers WAG Park in Whitefish during the annual WAG Race Sunday. Choose from a 1.5 mile, 4-mile or 15K distance.

Note that dogs can only run on the 1.5 mile or 4 mile distances, not on the 15k distance.
