William 'Bub' Lodinoff, 74

William “Bub” Lodinoff, 74, of Kalispell, passed away from a sudden heart attack on April 18, 2019, in ICU at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was the son of Alex and Maxine Lodinoff.

Bub was born, raised and educated in Whitefish. He graduated from Whitefish High School in 1964. While attending high school he had the distinction of earning 10 letters, three in football, three in basketball, and four in track. In 1964 he set the school record for the shot put and the javelin, which still stand today. He also set the state record for javelin the same year, which has been broken. During the summers he played for the American Legion baseball team pitching and in an outfield position. He was inducted into the Whitefish High School Hall of Fame in 2006.

After high school he joined the Navy and served as a Seabee at Whidbey Island in Washington. When his service ended he returned to Whitefish and was employed by BNSF Railroad in a variety of positions culminating as an engineer for many years.

Bub enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fly fishing, jogging, snowmobiling, gold panning, golfing, fly tying, and raising horses. He also adopted several unwanted dogs that became a huge part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Maxine, and his sister, Carol.

He is survived by his significant other and soul mate, Barb Norlander, his two children, his brother, Bob Robertson (Marie), nieces and several cousins. He leaves behind several close friends — Susan Peterson, Rick Kimbell, Mike Muldown, Moke, and the Sapa family, to name a few, and a great group of neighbors on Airport Road. He is also survived by his little Maltese dog, Pistol.

No formal services are planned per Bub’s request. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
