Kila principal placed on paid leave
Kila School Principal Jason Christy has been put on paid administrative leave following a special board meeting at 5 p.m. April 24 that adjourned within 16 minutes, according to board meeting minutes.
After going into closed session at Christy’s request, trustees voted unanimously to place Christy on paid administrative leave. Christy has been principal of Kila School since 2012. Because it’s a personnel matter, no information was available to the public about why Christy was placed on leave.
The school directed the Daily Inter Lake to contact Board Chairman Conrad Rauscher to get further information, such as the length of the paid administrative leave and the amount Christy is being paid, which was not included in the meeting minutes. Voicemails to Rauscher using a phone number provided by the school went unreturned.
It’s unclear if an interim principal will be hired.
According to minutes from an April 29 special board meeting, trustees appointed science and math teacher Nadine Ordway as a lead certified teacher “for disciplinary incidents” for the remainder of the school year. Ordway will receive a weekly $200 stipend for the additional duties. According to the board minutes, “In addition, a new position as scheduling coordinator will be created receiving $150 week for extra duties.”
