Glacier wildlife photographer shares latest video footage

Renowned local photographer Sumio Harada will show some of his recent footage of wildlife in Glacier National Park at the Montana House on Saturday, May 25.

This “celebration of wildlife” will be shown upstairs in Montana House’s Kintla Camp event room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“I spent all of 2018 hiking, camping and waiting for wildlife as usual,” Harada said. “During the course of that year I captured the true life of the hoary marmot, moose, bear, squirrel and, of course, the mountain goat. I plan to show the footage of their life through the four seasons with beautiful background landscapes.”

Harada is a renowned photographer known for his stunning images of wildlife and landscapes in the Rocky Mountains of the United States and Canada. He was born in Japan and studied biology at the Tokyo University of Agriculture. His research on the behavior of the Japanese serow, a close relative of the mountain goat, led to his wildlife photography career. His images have been published in Mountain Goats of Glacier National Park, National Geographic Magazine, National Wildlife Magazine, Ranger Rick, Montana Magazine and his 2016 photo book, “Wild Harmony of Glacier National Park.”
