Big Arm potluck

The Big Arm Association hosts a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the historic Big Arm School. Bring a dish to share.

Whitewater Festival

The Bigfork Whitewater Festival and Kayak Races take place this weekend on the Wild Mile of Swan River.

Slalom races begin 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Finals heats start at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The paddleboard race gets under way at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Viewing is best from the Swan River Nature Trail.

There will be food, breweries, distilleries, vendor booths and face painting; 406-752-2880.

Sunday’s Triathlon starts at 9 a.m. at the Swan River Bridge on Montana 209. For details, call Stan Watkins, 406-253-4103.

Homeschool graduation

The Flathead Home Educators Association graduation ceremony will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Easthaven Baptist Church, 2010 Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell.

Wildlife photography show

The Montana House hosts acclaimed photographer Sumio Harada, for two presentations at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Montana House, Apgar Village, Glacier Park.

Harada will feature his latest film footage of wildlife in the park. A reception will follow Harada’s presentations.

Audubon field trip

Flathead Audubon is sponsoring a birding field trip from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday in Glacier National Park with wildlife biologist Steve Gniadek.

Expect to see chickadee species as well as recent migrants like warblers and flycatchers, loons and Harlequin ducks.

The group will bird from Apgar to Fish Creek.

Scavenger hunt at Wayfarers

Montana State Parks hosts the Nature is Neat Scavenger Hunt at Flathead Lake State Park Wayfarers unit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Two hunts will be available; one with general objects for younger kids, and one with more specific finds for older explorers. Choose your scavenger hunt based on your child and how much time you have to explore.

Prizes for completed scavenger hunts will be available while supplies last. This is a drop-in program. For more information call the park ranger station at 837-3041.
