Bigfork artist Will Smith featured at Purple Pomegranate
The Purple Pomegranate is featuring work by Bigfork resident, professional artist and graphic designer Will Smith during the month of June.
Smith loves creating, whether it’s designing for a Fortune 500 company or painting the Flathead Lake shoreline. He works in two completely different ends of the spectrum — representational and fantasy. His subjects are varied, ranging from country and lakeshore landscapes to dog portraiture, from illustrative whimsical animals to bison in the wild.
Born in Flint, Michigan, Smith has been an artist his whole life, finding his passion for oil painting at a young age. His career took him from newspaper editorial illustration, to design agencies and eventually to owner and creative director of a successful marketing communications firm in Michigan, from which he retired. He and his wife Suzanne moved to Montana and he began his latest career in Bigfork, where he designs for an award-winning creative firm. In his spare time, he continues working in his home studio putting brush to canvas using the beauty that surrounds him for creative inspiration.
An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6, during Whitefish Gallery Night. Smith’s work will be displayed during the opening and throughout the month of June.
The Purple Pomegranate is located at 222 Central Ave., in downtown Whitefish.
