Employers deserve credit for support of Guard, Reserve

Flathead County civilian employers who employ members of the Army National Guard and Reserve got a big lift, quite literally, as they took off in a Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter last week as part of an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) event that brought attention to these employers’ dedicated support of military service.

The ESGR, comprised of more than 3,700 volunteers across the county, works to educate the public about the employer support of Guard and Reserve service members who are required to step away from their jobs for regular drills and deployments that can last months. This organization plays a pivotal role in cultivating positive relationships between service members and their employers.

The ESGR’s “boss lifts” gave employers a well-deserved helicopter ride as a token of appreciation, but the bigger-picture message is that we all owe these employers a debt of gratitude for their commitment to our military men and women.

Commencement season is underway and families across the Flathead Valley are celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2019.

Over the past week the Daily Inter Lake has been shining the spotlight on graduating seniors who are making a difference in their communities and the lives of others. These high achievers are giving back in myriad ways, and their passion and leadership for a wide range of causes is a testament to their generation.
