This classic holiday tale centers on a mischievous, bespectacled boy, Ralphie, who dreams of getting a BB-gun for Christmas. In the weeks before the big holiday, Ralphie, his friends and his family get into all kinds of situations — including run-ins with a bully with “yellow eyes,” a tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bar of soap in the mouth, a garish leg lamp, a major award and a Chinese Christmas dinner. with a brilliant musical that will make this a holiday extravaganza. Songs like “When You’re a Wimp,” “Genius on Cleveland Street,” “Ralphie to the Rescue” and “You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out!”
Auditions for “A Christmas Story” will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater Afterschool Arts Center, 833 Grand Ave. on Tuesday, Nov. 19; 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. for grades 3 and 4; 5:30 - 7 p.m. for grades 5 to 7; and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for grades 8 through adult.
This production calls for a large cast and it cost nothing to audition. There is a $50 fee to participate in the production if cast in the show. Please prepare a 30-second monologue or selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something for us at the audition. If you don’t have experience or can’t find something to prepare, we’ll have materials at the center for you. Tentative rehearsal dates will be announced at the auditions.
Performances are Dec. 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21.
