The Montana Republican Party has selected a former senior staff member for U.S. Sen. Steve Daines as its new executive director.

Spenser Merwin served as director of coalitions and outreach for Daines since 2015, according to a media release from the MTGOP. In the 2014 election cycle, Merwin was the deputy political director for Daines’ Senate campaign, and before that was a regional political director in the 2012 election cycle.

Merwin will be responsible for overseeing the organization, managing staff, and implementing Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt’s vision to support Republican candidates.

“I am pleased Spenser will serve the Montana Republican Party as its next executive director,” said Kaltschmidt. “Spenser is well-known in Republican politics and has the experience to help us build a great organization. We are excited to get to work and ensure the Montana Republican Party has the resources it needs to support Republican candidates up and down the ticket in 2020.”

Merwin graduated from Colby College in 2012 and received a master of business administration in 2018 from the University of Montana. He lives in Missoula, with his fiancé, Morgan.
