Drivers lose their minds at malfunctioning light

Flathead County Sheriff’s Department responded to multiple calls that traffic lights were malfunctioning and causing traffic to back up on West Reserve Drive. One caller said she waited 10 minutes for the light to change and when it did, it only allowed a few cars to go through before turning red. Another caller said she had been waiting at the light for 30 minutes. Yet another caller said people were “being stupid” and a sixth caller claimed people were running red lights and nearly causing accidents.

A wet, cold, emotional man with possible frostbite who was reportedly hiking to Canada did not plan for the storm and was unprepared when it hit. Glacier County requested mutual aid from search and rescue after the man contacted emergency personnel. He was reportedly in the area of Thompson Creek “in neck-deep snow.” Two deputies were advised there was no base for snowmobiles and they would have to go in on foot. Two Bear Air advised law enforcement that the helicopter was down for maintenance. Eventually, he made it out and was transported to Browning by Glacier County Emergency Medical Services at his request.

A Meadowlark Drive resident in Kalispell claimed someone kept throwing rocks at her house every hour or so and wanted deputies to patrol the alley.

Neighbors were heard fighting and a small child crying on Klondyke Loop in Somers. Someone calling in the report said they yell all the time, but this was the worst fight they had heard. Officers didn’t hear any sounds of a verbal disturbance.

Someone told officers their brother found their stolen truck on the east side of the bypass south of the Foy’s Lake roundabout in Kalispell.

A man allegedly tried to cash a stolen lottery ticket on U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse.

A High Road resident in Kalispell told deputies that someone had gone onto her property and cut down about 20 trees.

Someone reportedly installed eight new cameras outside a building and 20 new ones inside and wanted to let Kalispell Police Department know they have surveillance in the area in case they needed anything in the future.

Someone requested officers check on the welfare of a homeless man covered by a blanket who was supposedly convulsing because of the cold. The man refused medical assistance, packed up his belongings and moved on.

Employees who found two jackets and hats got a surprise while looking for IDs, when they reportedly found marijuana, a pipe, pills and a syringe, along with an iPad.

Extra patrol was requested in the alley between Eighth Avenue East North and Seventh Avenue East North when someone allegedly came into a resident’s yard and turned off the breaker to their entire house.
