Hockaday accepts Members Salon submissions

| October 10, 2019 10:05 AM

To culminate its 50th anniversary celebration, the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell is hosting its annual Members Salon, a showcase of two- and three-dimensional works created by their members. Artists are encouraged to submit pieces to be included and the public is invited to come see the art and vote in the People’s Choice Awards.

The 2019 Members Salon marks the 18th year of this popular exhibition. This year, the Members Salon will be hung in the Upper Galleries to recognize members for their continued support of the museum’s mission and the arts.

Artists of all skill levels are invited to join as members and submit their entry requirements. Participation elements include event forms, a $20 fee, and a 100-word artist statement by Nov. 1.

Works submitted in the past have covered a broad variety of media including paintings, woodworking, jewelry, sculpture and more. Many of the artists offer their work for sale in the museum, giving the public a chance to acquire art for their private collections. A portion of the proceeds from each sold piece benefits the Hockaday Museum of Art’s exhibition and education programs.

Voting closes Jan. 12 and winners will be announced the following week. The Hockaday awards $250 to the first place winner, $100 for second, and $50 for third place honors.

The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 12. Members are free and admission is $10 for the general public. This year-end event also serves as the museum’s holiday party.
