Tour and shuttle business proposed in Whitefish
Two Whitefish residents intend to start a tour and shuttle business based in Whitefish and are seeking an administrative conditional-use permit for the operation.
Gary Schram, with assistance from Kurt Schram, plan to establish a professional office in a former residential home at 541 Spokane Ave., just south of Pleasant Chiropractic.
“At first the existing building would be used for professional office purposes and in the future could expand under the personal services standards,” according to the legal notice for the proposed business.
The Schrams note in their application there will be four parking spaces at the rear of the property, along with one parking space in front of the garage, and one space behind the garage.
“The proposed use will affect the adjacent property owners very minimally,” the application states. “There will be minimal traffic generation and/or infiltration of traffic into this neighborhood. We pick up our guests from their hotels/lodging, so we will leave in the early a.m. , and return in the p.m. There may be an additional arrival or departure through the day, depending on our itinerary.”
Public comments on the proposal will be received by the Whitefish Planning Office until Oct. 30, after which Whitefish Zoning Administrator David Taylor will make a decision on the application.
If there are issues that can’t be mitigated through conditions of approval “or the granting of the permit would adversely or injuriously affect” a personal or legal interest, Taylor could opt to schedule the matter with the Planning Board and City Council for final approval.
