Lundgren supports resort tax under certain circumstances

| October 18, 2019 2:00 AM

Q. Columbia Falls has seen significant commercial and residential growth in recent years. Is the city doing enough to guide economic growth, both in city limits and in the city’s outlying planning jurisdiction?

A. No, the city seems to have a vision for the recently approved Master Plan, but mixed messages regarding the actual development toward this plan.

Q. Do you support a resort tax for Columbia Falls? Why or why not?

A. I am on the Resort Tax Advisory Committee for the following reasons: Generating revenue from the spending of our growing influx of tourist dollars and using that for property tax relief and fire, police services seems like a great opportunity to manage the growing cost of residing in Columbia Falls. I would wholeheartedly support tourism dollars being used to the benefit of our residents. If the proposal we send to City Council, and then the voting public, ends up unduly taxing residents to fund unpopular city projects then no, I would not support that.

Q. Is the city of Columbia Falls doing enough to address affordable/workforce housing?

A. No.

Q. What qualities make you the best candidate for a council position?

A. No response was submitted.
