Flathead Valley is brimming with Halloween activities
There may be a bit of a chill in the air, but there’s all kinds of Halloween week fun to share, so get out there ... if you dare!
TODAY, OCT. 30
- The Salvation Army Harvest-fest Carnival takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at 110 Bountiful Drive in Kalispell. Play carnival games for prizes. Games include basketball, football, softball and ring tosses, duck and fishing ponds, and a cupcake walk. A “get out of jail” fundraiser benefits the Youth World Service Organization. A hot dog snack bar will be on site. Adults must accompany youth.
HALLOWEEN, OCT. 31
- Bigfork Elementary School kindergarten, first and second grades will begin their costume parade at 12:15 p.m. down Electric Avenue. Trick or Treating on Electric Avenue is from 4 to 6 p.m.
- Polson downtown businesses invite trick-or-treaters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Polson’s North Lake County Public Library will be giving out candy at 5 p.m. while it lasts.
- Montana Children’s, Kalispell Regional Healthcare’s pediatric facility, hosts the annual Trick or Treat Street starting at 3 p.m. in downtown Whitefish. Visit Montana Children’s nurses and staff in front of the O’Shaughnessy Center for free glow stick necklaces and safety tips and opportunities to win a prize, then go trick-or-treating door to door at the downtown merchants.
- Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a Trick or Treat Trail, for ages up to 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bakke Nature Reserve. The reserve is located at 611 W. Seventh St.
- The Nurturing Center in Kalispell hosts its annual free Pic-or-Treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. at 146 Third Ave. W. in Kalispell. There will be picture props, children’s activities, games, treats and a chance to enter the quilt raffle.
- Flathead Valley Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and Interclub Council hosts a Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. in the west-facing parking lot at the college. The event is free and open to the public, offering a safe one-stop trick-or-treating venue for families.
- The Flathead County Sheriff Posse hosts a Halloween community event. Everyone is invited. Enjoy a big Haunted House, trick or treating, games and fun from 5 to 9 p.m. indoors at the Posse headquarters located at the former Boys and Girls Club building and Shady Lane Skating Rink, 155 Shady Lane in Evergreen. Businesses and community partners will have booths set up for the kids to play games to win candy and prizes. Parking will be at Kmart, with shuttle buses to the event. Handicap parking is available at the venue. Admission is free and there will be food vendors and fun for the entire family.
- Lakeside Community Chapel, along with Eidsvold Lutheran Church and other area churches, sponsors a community Trunk or Treat for children from 4 to 6 p.m. in the church parking lot across Adams Street from the Lakeside Elementary School. Children are invited to wear costumes, enjoy the games (provided by Lakeside Elementary and led by the youth from Youth With A Mission), hot chocolate, root beer and other festive offerings.
- Cabela’s in Kalispell invites children to trick or treat from 4 to 8 p.m. The costume parade begins at 6 p.m.
- Kalispell Center Mall invites children to its Trunk or Treat Street from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be Halloween prizes and a costume contest sponsored by Park Side Credit Union.
- Libby’s downtown businesses invite trick or treaters from 4 to 6 p.m. Then Central School on Louisiana Avenue hosts a free Halloween event from 5 to 7 p.m. with trunk-or-treating, food and games. A Haunted House is open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Due to the haunted house’s intensity, children under age 10 are welcome for the first half hour. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. those 10 and over will be allowed to enter.
- Glacier Gateway Elementary School in Columbia Falls welcomes all to its Fall Festival from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There will be games, bounce houses, food and candy, while supplies last.
- The Tailing Loop Winery in Kalispell invites everyone to a fun, family-friendly Halloween beginning at 6 p.m. Enjoy live music, festive snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and wine. Trick or Treaters of all ages are encouraged to stop by for candy. A costume contest will be held and the winner announced around 9 pm. Both individual and couple entrees are welcome.
- Pablo’s Church of the Nazarene invites families to its trunk or treat and carnival games starting at 6 p.m.
- Heroic Realms in Evergreen has its annual Halloween Costume contest! Candy and prizes will be awarded for those with the top costumes. Age categories are 0-11 years starts at 6 p.m.; ages 12-17 at 7 p.m.; 18 and older at 8 p.m.
- Timber Creek Village Assisted Living in Columbia Falls hosts trick-or-treating from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Come in your spooky costumes, and enjoy a warm, safe fun night.
FRIDAY, NOV. 1
- Sacred Waters Brewing Co. in Kalispell has a Halloween costume contest at 5 p.m. for a chance to win a gift card and a goodie basket for best kid’s costume.
