| September 2, 2019 3:51 PM

Clinton Jerome Haugen passed away at home on Aug. 27, 2019. Clint was born Oct. 21, 1938 to Agnes and Harold Haugen in Sydney. He spent his childhood in Sydney, Williston and on the farm in Arnegard, N.D. In 1956 he joined the Navy and married Joan Trieder. They had three children: Mike, Julie and Suzy.

While the Navy took the family to many different places, Montana was always home. After serving 22 years in the Navy, Clint retired as a lieutenant and settled on Little Bitterroot Lake in Marion. Clint later married Marla Mayes and together they had a son Brad. Some years later, Clint married again to Harriet Harness until her death 15 years later. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Suzy, brother Jack, grandson Eric and stepdaughter Sarah. He is survived by his children Mike Haugen, Julie Huntley and Brad Haugen; stepson Chris; siblings Janis Jarvis, Joyce McCoy, Penny Dahl and Chuck Stevens; grandchildren Claire, Shawn, Tyler, Charlie, and Jordan; great-grandchildren Samantha, Eric, Leo and Abigail; and best friend Barney. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid reader of naval and western history. After travelling so much in his young life, he settled down in Flathead County where he happily lived out his remaining years. He was a private man, very giving and kind, and his family and friends will dearly miss him.
