Falling tree strikes, kills Libby man on ATV
A 71-year-old Libby man is dead after he was struck by a falling tree while he was riding an all-terrain vehicle.
Montana Highway Patrol was dispatched to Quartz Mountain Road in Libby at 3:31 p.m. Sunday.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, the man was traveling northbound on Quartz Mountain Road. Someone was cutting down a tree and a flagger reportedly tried to notify the man about the falling tree.
The tree hit the man’s head and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet according to Montana Highway Patrol.
The man’s name has not been released.
