Gail Seelye-Weimar, 93

| September 2, 2019 3:52 PM

Gail Seelye-Weimar took God’s hand to travel home Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Gail was born to George and Hazel Miller on the snowy Sunday morning of Jan. 10, 1926. She grew up the youngest of four children and was raised on a Creston-area farm where she attended Montford School through the eighth grade, continuing her education at Flathead County High School where she graduated in 1944. Gail met the love of her life, Dale Seelye, later that year.

Gail and Dale were married on her 19th birthday, Jan. 10, 1945. The new couple took up residency on a small farm in the Montford area. Nov 30 of that year brought them their first child, a son named Terril George (Named after both his Grandpa Georges). They celebrated the Fourth of July, 1948 by welcoming their first daughter, Judith Ann, to their little family. The birth of their second daughter, Fay Marie, on Oct. 21, 1951, completed their family, or so they thought.

They moved the family “out west of town” near Marion in 1956, where all three of their children attended Ashley Creek School. Through the years Gail worked at JC Penney, where she “retired” 3 times. She loved her flowers and always had a beautiful yard. She raised vegetables when she could – in between the pinochle games, scrabble, yatzee and cribbage games with the neighbors and friends, grange hall dances with their children, and most importantly, church on Sunday.

The year of 1967 was a most eventful year. Not only did their oldest child get married, but they welcomed their fourth bundle of joy, Laura Lyn on Aug. 22. In 1971, they moved to the Batavia area where Laura attended grade school. While living there she was able to not only have her flower gardens, but also a large vegetable garden. Her specialties became her dill pickles, zucchini relish and several different kinds of jams and jellies. Her children and grandchildren always had to have her dill pickles! She was a wonderful cook and always had cookies or dessert on hand “just in case” someone might drop by to visit.

Gail and Dale became “townies” in 1986 when Dale’s health began to fail. Through the years they joyfully welcomed eight grandchildren and many step-grandchildren. Her life’s true love passed in Aug., 1992.

Frank Weimar took her hand in marriage Sept. 3, 1994. They enjoyed “traveling the globe” together with a cruise through the Panama Canal and trips to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii and several “Mystery Trips” with their travel club, just to name a few. They lived in their “little green house kitty-corner from the Catholic Church”. Gail enjoyed her flowers, birds and feeding Norman, the resident squirrel. Frank passed away in March 2006. Gail continued to enjoy her ever-growing family and friends in their “little green house.”

Oct.10, 2016, her beloved daughter Judy left this earth. From that day on, she slowly prepared herself to go home to God.

She lived at Buffalo Hill Terrace for 9 months while her “little green house” was being remodeled. She came home Nov.1, 2018, where her daughter Laura and son-in-law Paul lived with her until her final breath was taken at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Her family was gathered around her to see her off on her final journey to receive her much-deserved angel wings.

Gail is survived by: her children, Terry and Karen Seelye, Fay and Dan Skiles, and Laura and Paul Steele; her grandchildren: Joe (Jeff) Seelye, Susan (Jim) Mann, Kelly Motichka, Shannon (Matt) Jones, Kim (Mike) Carey, Kari (Josh) Baugh, Josh (Amy) Greene, Megan (Cameron) Johnson, Bridget (Aaron) Herceg, Bobbie (Jason) Briscoe, Nichelle (Kevin) Lyons, and Kathrin (Justin) Heim-Wilson; great-grandchildren: Adam and Andrea Seelye; Georgia Mann; Tehl, Zane and Austin King; Natalee and Josey Jones; Shaniya and Madison Carey; Aria and Evie Greene; Katie Johnson; Fiala and Hunter Herceg; Cassidee (Mike) Thompson, Kyle Hudson, Tori (Justin) Click, Emily Wilson and four great-great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

A public viewing will be held from 6:30-7:00 p.m., followed by rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 2 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. The burial will immediately follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell. A luncheon will immediately follow the burial service. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
