Daniel David Donahue, 86

Dan passed away at his home in Whitefish Sept. 2, 2019, at age 86.

He was born to Garrett and Erma Donahue in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on April 27, 1933. Dan joined the Marine Corps out of high school where he served honorably in Korea. Once home he continued his career with the Great Northern Railroad and retired from the Columbia Falls Aluminum plant.

Dan married his high school sweetheart Edwina Hodge, who passed away in 1980. He then met and married Janet Herrmann in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Patricia.

He is survived by his wife Janet and his brother Mike; daughters Christine (Steve) Trukositz, Gail Fern and Diane (Darryl) Smith, and sons Steve Donahue and Tom Donahue; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Join the family Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post 276 in Whitefish for a celebration of his life. Remember Dan was proud of his Irish heritage and share stories with the family, but remember “never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”
