Glacier soccer sweeps Butte, Whitefish sweeps Park

Alma Patrick scored a hat trick, Emma Paulson scored two goals and Madison Becker added two goals and two assists in the Glacier Wolfpack’s 8-0 rout of Butte in Western AA soccer on Friday.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Butte but was moved to Kalispell due to a scheduling conflict.

The Wolfpack beat crosstown rival Flathead 3-2 Thursday night and has a week off before playing Helena Capital on Sept. 13.

“I think the girls rebounded well after a tough match the night before,” Glacier coach Brenden Byrd said. “It was nice to get some goals and it will be nice to have a week off before we see the Helena schools.”

Ady Powell also scored a goal for Glacier.

Becker assisted on Paulson’s first goal, Powell’s goal and Patrick’s second goal.

Glacier improves to 2-0-1 on the season.

LIVINGSTON — Anna Cook scored two goals as the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs rolled over Park in Class A play on Friday night.

Park struck first, scoring in the 14th minute, but Whitefish answered with three consecutive goals in the first half.

The Bulldogs (1-1 added a goal late in the second half to seal the win.

“I think when we played our last game against Columbia Falls we were a little tense and nervous for our first game of the year especially against out x town rivals,” Whitefish coach Roland Benedict said. “This game we created a lot of chances within our system and style of play.”

Zane Elliott and Braden Nitschelm each scored two goals as the Glacier Wolfpack (1-1-1) hammered Butte in Western AA play on Friday.

“After an emotional crosstown match last night to bounce back and end the week on a positive note ... Not easy to play a game after an emotional crosstown match,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said. “They really created a lot of good goal scoring opportunities.”

Elliott had two assists for a total of four points. Nitschelm added an assist.

Daniel Camp had a goal and an assist.

Glacier put an impressive 35 shots on Butte’s goal.

LIVINGSTON ­— The Whitefish Bulldogs scored six straight goals in a 6-1 Class A rout of Park to remain undefeated.

Casey Schneider did some heavy lifting for the Bulldogs with two goals and two assists, Ian Lacey scored twice.

Sam Menicke and Gabe Menicke rounded out the Whitefish scorers.

The Bulldogs are an undefeated 2-0 on the season.
