Stand Down for veterans set for Libby

The 20th annual Northwest Montana Veterans Stand Down honoring all veterans will take place Oct. 5-6 at Asa Wood Elementary School, 700 Idaho St., in Libby.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.

Opening ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Admission is free for all veterans and their families. Bring your DD214 Discharge VA card or other military ID.

The event provides veterans an opportunity to obtain free services and to engage with a wide range of veteran and community resources.

Available for free will be haircuts, food boxes, a hot meal, surplus military clothing, access to a staffed medical bus and flu shots.

Organizations that provide the following services/resources will be available: benefit, transportation, energy, ID cards, housing services/referrals, banking, counseling, legal services, suicide prevention, and insurance.

Also on-site will be U.S. senator representatives, a service officer for the VA Clinic, a physical health provider, employment counseling, veterans service organizations, and the Flathead Spay and Neuter Clinic.

A civilian clothing give away is open to the public and will be located in the parking lot.
