Rita Mae Otten, 70

The angels came and took Rita Mae Otten on Aug. 31, 2019.

A beloved mom, Nanna, sister and aunt, Rita was born Nov. 28,1948, at Kalispell General Hospital to Raymond and Elizabeth Otten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Harvey Otten.

She left behind her daughters, Nuggett Carmalt and Lori Peterson; grandchildren, Talli, Trey, Alex and Ty; brothers, Donald, Robert and Arthur Otten, of Kalispell; and a sister, Rachel, of Billings; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Otten and Cindy Vance.

Rita was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the young age of 30 and battled MS for 41 years. She was a fighter to the end.

Rita’s family was her everything, and her grandchildren were her life.

She had many talents, from memorizing bingo cards and cake decorating to Sudoku puzzles. She was a very intelligent, strong woman.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held later.
