Mercer paces field at Kalispell Invite
Flathead’s Wynne in 2nd, Polson’s Kelley 3rd

Marcella Mercer of Flathead has set the standard for ladies prep golfers throughout the fall sports season.
Today at the Kalispell Invitational at Northern Pines Golf Club was no different for Mercer.
Mercer finished Day 1 at 76 and stands in first place, seven strokes ahead of the second place golfer, Jillian Wynne, also of Flathead.
Glacier’s Alana Griffin is in fifth, carding an 87.
Esme Yarbrough of Polson is 10th.
Also inside the top 25 are Glacier JV’s Allee Meyer; Glacier Varsity’s Blayke Foppiano, Abi Manger, Hannah Nikunen and Stella Claridge; Flathead’s McKinlie Murer, Kianna Storm, Sophie Dykhuizen and Flathead JV’s Kendall Pyron, MJ Reed and Brooklyn Sampson.
Polson’s Trey Kelley shot 75 and ended up in a five-way tie for third place, which includes Tyler Avery of Glacier.
Columbia Falls’ Tyler Langton is in seventh.
Also in the top 25 are Glacier’s Coby Kunda, Will Salonen, Keaton Cassidy, Sam Manaker and Glacier JV players Ethan Purdy and Joe Schlegel; Flathead’s Ezra Epperly, Joston Cripe and Columbia Falls’ Marcus Kilman.
In team standings, Flathead girls lead Glacier 371-398. Polson is third.
The Glacier boys trail leader Hamilton by three points. Flathead is sixth with 344 and Columbia Falls is eighth.
Day 2 of the Kalispell Invitational continues today at 10 a.m. at Buffalo Hill Golf Club in Kalispell.
