Stomp grapes at Tailing Loop Winery

| September 26, 2019 2:00 AM

Tailing Loop Winery in Kalispell is having a community Grape Stomp from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

Put your feet in a vat of real grapes; this traditional method of crushing grapes for fermentation is definitely a lot more fun than the machine-driven version.

There will be a stomping vat for adults and a few smaller ones for kids. A sprinkler will be set up for quick clean up, so feel free to bring along a bathing suit and change of clothes for you and your children.

Adult tickets are $15 per person, and include your first glass of wine. Adolescents ages 12 to 20 are $10 per person, and children 12 and under are free.

A portion of each ticket sale will go directly to RezQ Dogs Animal Shelter. Founded in 2009, the organization has rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of injured and unwanted animals from across the state of Montana. The founders’ story is truly inspirational; a look at the organization’s Facebook page is worthwhile. Due to flooding and space limitations at its current location, RezQ Dogs will be moving to a new property before winter. Proceeds from the Grape Stomp will help to create the facility they need to continue their mission.

FOOD: Tailing Loop will be serving up a combination of Pork Carnitas Tacos and Asian Chicken Tacos. Side dishes such as Mexican rice, beans, homemade guacamole, and several salsas will be available to fill out your plates. There will also be some simple “kid-friendly” options for tiny stompers. Prices will range from $5 to $10, and you can pay with cash or card. An ATM is available on site for those who need it.

MUSIC: The boys of the Classique Cats are back in the Tasting Room bringing the tunes from 6 to 8 p.m. Afterward, all of the favorite Jam Night musicians will be joining them on the stage for a round of shared classics.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite, or by visiting the Tasting Room at 1498 Montana 35, in Evergreen. You may also call and pay for tickets over the phone at 406-945-3324.
