Flu clinic, health fair planned in Pablo

Tribal Health is conducting a mass flu clinic and health fair for the community on Oct. 23. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Salish Kootenai College Joe McDonald Gymnasium in Pablo.

If you have health insurance, please bring your insurance information.

Those who are eligible for the free, all-ages clinic include:

- Tribal Health recipients

- Non-tribal members who reside in the same households as Tribal Health recipients

- Tribal employees

Tribal Council has authorized a two-hour change of duty for all CSKT employees. Additionally, a health fair will take place during the flu clinic. People can attend the fair without getting a flu shot, though the flu vaccination is highly recommended.

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Serious outcomes of flu infection can result in hospitalization or death. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk of serious flu complications.

In Montana, flu season occurs in the fall and winter. The peak season is usually from late November through March. The best way to prevent flu is by getting vaccinated each year.

Tribal Health recipients who are working to fill up their Own Your Health passes will also get credit for attending the flu clinic and health fair.
