Blacktail Mountain to open Friday

| December 16, 2020 2:50 AM

Opening day at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18.

With snow expected throughout the week, the team at Blacktail is optimistic about conditions for the upcoming weekend, Marketing Director Arin Lever said in a press release.

Lifts will be running throughout the weekend of Dec. 18-20, starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. Specific lifts and runs that will be ready for opening weekend have yet to be announced.

Blacktail also will be open Dec. 23 to Jan 3. for the holiday season.

Blacktail has implemented a variety of new COVID-19 precautions this year.

Face coverings are required at all times in lift lines and inside the lodge.

Grab-and-go food options have been added in the cafeteria, and guests are encouraged to eat lunch in their cars.

Fire pits have been added at the base of each chairlift to provide an additional warming option for skiers and boarders.

Lift tickets and rentals will be available online for the first time this year, and guests can print out their tickets at two new kiosks when they arrive, to reduce crowding in lines.

To further reduce crowding, the Mighty-Mite beginner area has been relocated.
