Locals receive Frontier conference honors

WHITEFISH ­— Two local athletes were named the Frontier Conference Women’s and Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Carroll College senior Sam Mundel of Columbia Falls and Rocky Mountain College sophomore Michael Lee of Kalispell were honored.

At the Big Sky Turner hosted by Montana State University in Bozeman, Mundel finished second in the mile run out of 17 entries. Her time of 5:08 is an NAIA, A-Standard time. She also placed third in the 3,000 in a time of 10:47

Lee placed second out of eight entries in the weight throw at the 2020 Stinger Open hosted by Black Hills State in Spear. His throw of 16.18 meters is a new school record. He finished third in the shot put with a throw of 15.26 meters. The throw was also a school record and an NAIA B Standard throw.
