Woll second at Kato Invitational
Bigfork wrestler Shelton Woll was the headliner for the Eagles at the Ted Kato Invitational Saturday in Thompson Falls.
Woll, Bigfork’s 145-pounder, rolled into the semifinals with a pair of pins. The first occurred when he decked Florence’s Colten Rice in 1:13.
The second pin occurred in the quarterfinals when he beat Missoula Sentinel’s Jon Krause in just 80 seconds.
In the semifinals, it became much tougher as Woll had to go into overtime to beat Clark Fork’s Wesley Buchannen, 6-4, in sudden victory.
In the finals, Sandpoint, Idaho’s Brady Nelsen edged Woll, 6-2.
Also, 132-pound Eli Tidwell wrestled back after a first-round pin. In the next two rounds, he pinned Arlee’s Jace Samsel and Missoula Big Sky’s Daniel Peterson.
The Eagles scored 29 team points to finish 11th in the 13-team tournament, ahead of Arlee and Missoula Sentinel.
Mission-Charlo won the event with 150 points.
