Schwarz three lifts Glacier past Helena in OT

HELENA – Michael Schwarz drilled a 3-pointer with 48.7 seconds left in overtime and the Glacier Wolfpack held off Helena from there for a 56-55 Western AA boys basketball victory Friday.

Schwarz had 15 points and Drew Engellant added 14 for the Wolfpack, who improved to 7-3, 4-2 in league play. Schwarz was 5-for-8 from 3-point range and Glacier was 13-for-26 from beyond the arc.

KJ Johnson hit three 3-pointers and added nine points for the Pack.

Hayden Ferguson’s 12 points led Helena High (3-7, 2-4).

HELENA – The host Bruins improved to 8-2, 5-1 in the Western AA, with a victory over the Braves.

No other information was available. Flathead fell to 2-8, 1-5.

COLUMBIA FALLS – William Dyon scored 15 points, including a 15-foot bank shot at the buzzer, to lead the hold Wildcats past Whitefish in a Northwestern A game.

Dillon Shipp and Allec Knapton added 10 points each for Columbia Falls, now 3-9 and 2-3 in league games. Knapton also snared eight rebounds.

Justin Conklin scored 14 points for Whitefish (3-10, 1-6), and Jayce Cripe added 13 for the Bulldogs.

POLSON – Trevor Lake led a balanced attack for the host Pirates, who ran out to a 33-17 halftime lead in a Northwestern A battle.

Anton Lefthand added 10 points for Polson (8-5, 5-2 in league games). Zarec Couture had 13 points for Ronan (4-10, 1-7), and Leonard Burke added 12 for the Chiefs.

EUREKA – A.J. Pacella scored 21 points, including the go-ahead basket with under 30 seconds left as the host Lions held off Mission.

Down 62-61 Mission (6-7, 2-4 in the Western 7-B) had a chance in the closing seconds, but freshman Zoran LaFrombois (21 points) had the ball knocked away. Eureka’s Jake Kindel hit one of two free throws with under a second left to complete the scoring.

Kindel and Cory Channey each grabbed 15 rebounds and Austin Sartori had 10 points and eight assists for the Lions (8-6, 5-1).
