Bigfork man dies after vehicle hits tree

Geremy Madsen, 51, of Bigfork died after his car hit a tree near Ferndale on Saturday.

Montana Highway Patrol responded to the scene at Crane Mountain Road near Bug Creek Road around 4:35 p.m. According to troopers, the man was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry northbound on Crane Mountain Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and the car went off the the road. He reportedly overcorrected the vehicle multiple times until it struck a tree head-on.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The man was not wearing his seat belt according to Montana Highway Patrol and alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash.
