The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre invites students in grades 2 through 12 to audition, Tuesday, Sept. 8, for the cast of the hit Disney musical, "The Lion King Jr.”

“The Lion King Jr.” tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters, including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon and loveable warthog, Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King Jr. features classic songs from the 1994 film, such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award-winning number, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse on Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. for second and third grades, from 5-6:30 p.m. for fourth through seventh grades and from 6:30-8 p.m. for eighth through 12th grades.

This production calls for a cast of close to 50 with more than a dozen feature roles and a medium-sized chorus. It costs nothing to audition, however there is a $50 participation fee to be a part of the show if cast. Actors are asked to prepare a 30 second monologue or a short selection from another play or book and plan to learn and sing something for us at the audition. No experience is necessary and materials are available at the theatre. For the auditions participants should wear comfortable shoes, a mask and try to social distance. Masks can be removed during monologues.
