Letter from the Bigfork Eagle editor

| October 13, 2021 12:00 AM

Hello, Bigfork. My name is Taylor Inman and I’m very excited to be the new editor for the Bigfork Eagle.

I’ve lived in the Flathead Valley for about three years and only continue to fall more in love with this area.

I’m originally from west Kentucky, where I studied journalism at Murray State University and worked for four years at my local NPR affiliate station, WKMS, where I really found my love for local journalism.

Since moving to the Flathead Valley, I’ve worked seasonally for the Glacier National Park Conservancy and spent my summers driving up to Logan Pass every day. I live in Columbia Falls with my partner Austin. We both love the outdoors and spend a lot of time hiking and camping.

Bigfork reminds me so much of the town where we grew up — tight knit and caring, close to so much natural beauty. It’s a place where people want to continue to improve their home for themselves and future generations.

I believe community journalism is an important part of that, especially in an age where it is increasingly difficult to parse through unreliable information on social media. I am so honored and excited to get to know your community better and cover important stories that need to be heard.

I enjoy covering all sorts of topics, including business and politics, but I have a heart for stories about people, culture and history — which Bigfork is absolutely rich in.

Thank you for the opportunity to come in and learn about all of the things that make Bigfork special. If you have a news tip or an idea for a story, you can reach me by calling 406-758-4433 or by emailing me at editor@bigforkeagle.com.
