Bigfork’s Sam Cusker remained in the top five of the Fall Mack Days fishing content after two week on Flathead Lake.

Cusker had reeled in 258 lake trout for fourth place overall. The top angler thus far is Stevensville’s Felix Gauci with 423 entries, followed by Mike Benson of Lonepine at 274, and Larry Karper of Florence at 268.

Leading the ladies anglers is Laurie Kreis with 191. In second place is Julie Perkins of Kalispell with 123, while Kim Mack of Helena is third with 49.

A total of 4,803 lake trout have been entered by anglers after two week.

The $10,000 tagged lake trout named “Freddie Mack” by Peter Dayton of Missoula is still out there, along with three $5,000 tagged fish and five $1,000 tagged fish, plus over 9,000 tagged fish with values from $100 to $500.

Up to $200,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the event on Nov. 14. The event is nine weeks long.

The events are a management tool used to benefit native bull trout and cutthroat populations in Flathead Lake.
