Vikes and Vals cruise past Plains
The Vikes and Vals both picked up blowout wins heading into the winter break Dec. 20 as the teams played host to Plains.
Eight Valkyries scored and 10 had steals and assists as Bigfork took down the visiting Trotters 69-8.
Patten Gunlock led the way with 15 points, six assists and four steals in the victory while Braeden Gunlock added 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Ava Davey added 13 points and six steals while Ellie Jordt had 10 points, four steals and three rebounds off the bench.
Also scoring for the Valkyries were Maddie Chappuis with seven, Afton Lambrecht with four and Callie Gembala and Scout Nadeau each had three points.
The Vikings used a 30-point second quarter to pull away from the Horsemen in their matchup as the Bigfork boys downed Plains 77-15.
Bigfork led 17-7 after one quarter, but used a 30-5 second-quarter spurt to build a 47-12 halftime advantage before outscoring Plains 30-3 in the second half.
Eleven players scored for the Vikings, led by Eli Thorness with 18, while Nick Walker added 14 and Bryce Gilliard was also in double figures with 10.
Bigfork racked up 27 assists and 21 steals in the victory while getting 51 points from its bench.
Along with his 18 points, Thorness added four rebounds, four assists and three steals while Landon Byermen also filled up the stat sheet with six points, six assists and five steals.
Isak Epperly and Jack Jensen both finished with six points, Levi Peterson had five, Wyatt Johnson scored four, Cole Knopik and Tristen Herd each scored three and Dylan Porrovecchio added two.
