Logue’s third butterfly title leads Vals to third-place finish at state
Valkyries senior Sophi Logue earned her third straight state title in the 100 butterfly in Great Falls over the weekend as Bigfork came away with a third place finish at the state meet.
Logue edged out Billings Central’s Megan Beers to earn the 100 butterfly title with a time of 1:04.96 and also took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke by nearly two seconds over Billings Central’s Victoria Schafer. Logue finished the event in 1:15.11.
Fellow senior Sydney Slawter earned a pair of second-place finishes at the meet, finishing the 50 freestyle in 26.26 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:06.23.
Senior Lilia Kuzyk took third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.98 as the Valkyries had two on the podium in the event.
The Valkyries also made the awards podium in two relay races as Slawter, Logue, Mahali Kuzyk and Lilia Kuzyk took second in the 200 medley relay and third in the 400 freestyle relay.
The team of Danika Bucklin, Ashlyn McGill, Lily Peterson and Soraya Brevik took fifth in the 200 freestyle relay.
Bigfork ended the meet with 46 team points to finish behind Billings Central’s 115 and Whitefish’s 48.
