Volunteers needed for Creston Auction
Volunteers are needed for the 56th annual Creston Auction and Country Fair. Volunteers will receive a wristband each day for free food and drink in the staging tent.
Thursday, March 31: Set-up day, beginning at noon at the fire station. Fencing and signage need to be placed, rows need to be chalked on the school grounds, and flagging needs done for parking areas, along with other chores.
Friday, April 1: Consignment day, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Help is needed unloading and tagging all items from vehicles and trailers. Volunteers are also needed in the gym to sort, organize and price items for the rummage sale.
Saturday, April 2: General auction. People are needed in the gym for the Rummage Sale and especially on the grounds to “hold up” the individual items so the bidders can easily see what is being auctioned.
People who want to volunteer can leave a message on the Auction Hotline at 406-250-7396 and Gloria Graves will return the call with additional information.
Volunteers should dress warmly, in layers and wear gloves.
BAKERS IN the community are needed, as well. People like to grab a quick bite, a cup of coffee and then browse the auction grounds, so all goodies will be outside on the sale grounds. Church groups are encouraged to host a baking day for the auction.
Everything needs to be cut, wrapped and priced before going out to the grounds, so bakers are asked to do so beforehand, label if they contain nuts or do not contain nuts, then drop off the items at the fire station first and organizers will see that they get outside onto the tables by 7 a.m. Whole pies in disposable pie tins are especially welcome.
When cleaning out closets, garages and storage sheds, anything that will not sell for more than $5 may be taken to the gym and donated for the rummage sale fundraiser, rather than taken to the auction grounds, in order to speed up the auction process. You will be given a donation slip for tax purposes.
Help is also needed in keeping the garbage cans emptied all day Saturday and tidying the school grounds by the end ofSunday’s sale.
Those who you can’t commit early, but find they are available that weekend, are asked to report to staging to be assigned to the areas with the greatest need.
Visit the Auction FAQ section on www.crestonfire.org.or call the auction hotline at 250-7396 for any additional information.
All money collected from this year’s event will go directly toward the construction of the replacement fire station.
