In the March 22, 2000 edition of the Bigfork Eagle: Swan sites resident and longtime dog lover Guy Shanks rescues a golden retriver that fell through the thin ice on the north end of Swan Lake. Neighbors called Guy to undertake the necessary actions after watching the dog struggle for almost an hour in freezing water.
