Northwest Ballet Company to perform ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in Bigfork
The Northwest Ballet Company is bringing A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Bigfork this May.
Story by William Shakespeare, music by Felix Mendelssohn, choreography by Marisa Roth, costumes by Katie Sako, backdrops by Linda Ensign, lighting by Rich Haptonstall, and dancers of the Northwest Ballet...all these will lead to quite the collaborative culmination of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” live on stage this Mother’s Day Weekend at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.
“This is such a fun, humorous, visually pleasing, emotion meeting, crowd rousing, talent capturing production and we are excited to see children of all ages in Bigfork for it!” exclaims Northwest Ballet Company Director Roth. “If you’ve never been to one of our shows, or if our Nutcracker over Thanksgiving is the only production of ours you’ve seen, I invite you to broaden your horizons and come on out over Mother’s Day Weekend, you won’t be disappointed!”
Their spring shows offer the Company a chance to expand their repertoire and continuously entertain their faithful audiences with different eclectic productions suitable for the whole family.
Northwest Ballet Company Principal Calli Jerman, a senior at FHS, is dancing the coveted lead role of Queen Titania and had this to say about her last production with the Northwest Ballet.
“I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the incredible experience I’ve had being a part of this Company. It has been an absolute joy to dance alongside my friends and learn from Miss Marisa, who has become such an important person in my life,” she said. “It is so bittersweet dancing in my last performance, and this show will be so exciting!”
Likewise, Northwest Ballet Company Principal Joelle Folkman, also a senior at FHS, dancing the role of love-struck Hermia says, “I’ve had an amazing time stepping into this role and am going to miss the fun rehearsals and Company shenanigans. I could not be more grateful for the experiences I’ve had with the Northwest Ballet. I was taught passion, joy, how to make goals and pursue them, and it’s a crazy experience watching myself step into some of the same roles that I looked up to when I was a student in the School. I have so much love for everyone at the Northwest Ballet and it’s going to be so hard to say goodbye, but I’ve been well prepared by their amazing teachers and am so excited for the future.”
