Valkyries looking to build on success

The Valkyries volleyball team will looking to continue its winniing ways from last season as they make to the move to Class A this year.

The Vals are coming off a 2022 season that saw unprecedented success, including a 17-match winning streak, an undefeated regular season, a district tournament title and the team’s first trip to the state volleyball tournament since 2005.

The Vals graduated four players from last year’s squad, including the program’s career leader in kills and blocks in Inga Turner, but return five players in Piper Linson, Ava Davey, Piper Lee, Tesa Troyer and Bella Ellison.

The Valkyries open the season at the Northwest A Tip Off in Columbia Falls over the weekend before taking on Stillwater Christian School next Thursday.

Conference play begins the next week as Bigfork opens Northwest A play at Columbia Falls Sept. 5 before playing the first home match of the season against Ronan Sept. 9.
