Vikings fall at Hamilton, cruise at Stevensville
The Vikings basketball squad split another pair of matchups last week to Hamilton and Stevensville to move to 2-5 this season.
Bigfork gave up the first 24 points of the game on the road at Hamilton Dec. 19, but battled their way back into the game before falling to the Broncs, 55-43.
Bigfork shot 40% from the field in the loss, including just 4-for-12 from 3-point territory and made it to the free throw line just five times.
Wyatt Johnson was the top scorer for the Vikes, putting up 13 points and adding six rebounds and two steals while Asher Knopik added 12 points and five boards.
Eli Thorness finished with seven points, Colin Wade had five, Jack Jensen had four points and five rebounds and Austin Savik added two points.
There was no slow start for the Vikings Thursday as they jumped ahead of the Yellowjackets 14-4 in the first quarter at Stevensville on the way to a 65-31 win.
Knopik’s 14 points, three rebounds and two steals led the way for Bigfork as the Vikes built a 32-8 halftime lead before cruising in the second half.
Cole Knopik added 13 points and two rebounds in the victory while Jack Lucke also scored in double figures with 11 points.
Thorness chipped in with eight points and five rebounds, Jensen added six points and four boards while Johnson added six points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
Savik finished with five points and three rebounds and Dylan Porrovecchio added a basket and three rebounds.
The Vikings season continues in the new year as the Vikes host Libby Jan. 4 before traveling to Columbia Falls Jan. 6.
