Construction of new trails well underway
Construction efforts are going well at the new Harrell Forest Tails, the Flathead Land Trust said recently.
The group says the trailhead is really beginning to take shape as the parking lot is nearing completion and the trails have been roughed in.
The next phase will encompass finish work on the trails, kiosk and monument sign construction and finishing the trailhead amenities.
Flathead Land Trust, The Trust for Public Land and Montana Land Reliance have worked together diligently to get to this point, and we both are thrilled with the project.
The groups say they are grateful to Montana Made Trails, which has been working diligently on the trails since the snow melted, and JD Thinning for the trailhead work.
Flathead Land Trust says to stay tuned for the unveiling of the Harrell Forest logo and for an invitation to the Grand Opening at the end of September, coinciding with The Trust for Public Land’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The celebration will take place on Friday, September 22 from 3-5 p.m. at the trailhead of the Harrell Forest Community Trails, located a short distance from downtown.
All guests will take a shuttle from a nearby parking location due to limited parking. More information will be shared prior to the event.
There will be small bites, music, and a few words from local leaders and stakeholders that helped make Harrell Forest Community Trails a reality.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about this project and see the impact it will have on the Bigfork community.
The trails will not be open to the public while trail and trailhead building is still taking place.
