Yellow Bay Community Club to hold Community Bazaar June 24
All are welcome to the Yellow Bay Community Bazaar, Saturday, June 24, 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. at the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse, 23420 Montana Hwy 35 (mile marker 18).
The day includes several sale tables full of gently used household items, furniture, a
used book sale by Polson’s Friends of the Library, homemade bake sale, lunch wagon of hot
dog and fixins’, and free coffee.
Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Yellow Bay Community clubhouse building
maintenance fund.
The clubhouse was built in the 1940s and has been a gathering place for the
East Shore community for nearly 80 years, hosting festivals, dances, potlucks, educational
presentations, cherry growers meetings, receptions, memorials and other community events.
The pandemic slowed membership activity which limited costly upgrade projects and
regular maintenance of the historic building. Club members have restored some events and
plan to offer more community activities as the year progresses. The Yellow Bay Community
Bazaar will help keep the doors open supporting events that appeal to neighborhood interests
and offering a center for social activities.

Lakeside Parade, Kids Carnival, and Watermelon Eating Contest set for July 8th
Join us for the annual Lakeside Parade down Highway 93 with lineup at 9 a.m. and the parade starting at 10.
It's a great (and free) opportunity to showcase your business or organization, so it's time to start thinking about joining us with a float, classic car, ATV or any other creative idea.
Let's make this parade the best yet. Awards to be given out for best floats.
Lineup begins in the Glacier Bank/Lakeside Business Center parking lot.
After the parade, come on over and join us outside the Lakeside Elementary School for a small Kid's Carnival from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
We're currently looking for organizations, individuals or businesses to organize a 'kid's carnival' game or hand out fun prizes, etc (similar to Trunk or Treat).
If you are interested, please contact us. We're also looking for someone that could offer face painting, so if you know of anyone interested, refer them our way.
At noon, join us for the Annual Kid's Watermelon Eating Contest outside the Lakeside Elementary School. Look for the flatbed trailer and get ready to eat some watermelon!
Please email LakesideSomers@gmail.com with any questions regarding any of these events or how to be involved. We'd love to see some more active participation in these local events.
Flathead Lake Run set for July 23
The Lakeside Somers Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 8th Annual Flathead Lake Run (formerly Flathead Lake 5k) Sunday, July 23 at Volunteer Park.
Last year, the event had over 300 participants. Like last year, this year’s event will feature professionally timed 5k, 10k and kids 1-mile runs.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 10k beginning at 8 a.m., the 5k at 8:30 and the Kid's Run will begin about 9:30 (whenever last 5k crosses over the finish line).
Registration fees are $40 for the 10k, $30 ($25 for ages 17 and under) for the 5k and $15 for the Kids Fun Run (ages 12 and under).
Their mission for this event is to create a fun family-friendly event to improve awareness for protecting and preserving Flathead Lake.
This year, a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Flathead Lake Bio Station and the Flathead Lakers. Both of these organizations focus on research, stewardship, education and outreach as a means to provide a voice and advocacy for our spectacular lake.
