Bigfork Art/Cultural Center to host three artists for workshops in May
In May, the Bigfork Art/Cultural Center’s workshops will be focusing on new media and art experiences.
Annie Allen will take participants through the creative journey of capturing movement and expression in character drawing during her workshop May 10 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
She will show how to use those concepts to focus on forms and amplify expression.
There will also be artist talk, demo and opening reception with Allen at the center beginning at 5:30 p.m. May 9.
On May 13, Teresa Olsen will host “Learning to create an abstraction through painting,” in which she will take participants on a journey of seeing and expressing through the abstract. She will show how to playfully work with color to create unique detail and feel.
Olsen’s workshop runs from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
May 20, fabric artist Merrie Ford returns with the latest installment of her “Art of Sewing” series, this time focusing on nature as seen through fabric and embellishments.
“The designs in rocks and stones are endless,” she writes. “Here in the Northwest, we have an abundance of sources in river rocks, field stones, lake rocks and pebbles. In this relaxing hand-stitching class, you will draw your own pattern, create the appearance of texture, achieve smooth edges and embellish with both stitching and beadwork.
Ford’s workshop runs from 2-4 p.m.
