Bigfork tracksters set 4 new personal records despite rain

The Vikes and Vals both battled to a sixth place finish against tough competition Saturday as Bigfork competed in the AA Archie Roe Invitational at Legends Stadium in Kalispell.

Joseph Farrier and Wyatt Johnson both set new PRs for the Vikes despite battling rainy conditions at the meet as Farrier finished 3rd in the javelin with a toss of 149 feet, 3 inches and Johnson was 21st in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.14 seconds.

Farrier was also 18th in the 100 and took 8th in the discus with a toss of 111 feet, 9.5 inches.

Johnson took second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.84 seconds.

Jack Jensen set a new season record and qualified for state in the 800 with a time of 2:01.70 while Sean Cotman took 15th in the 1,600 with a time of 5:00.46.

Isak Epperly took sixth in the 110 hurdles with time of 17.39 seconds, Wyatt Barnes was 7th in the triple jump and Abe Ochs took ninth in the shot put while Dale Relyea was 11th.

The Valkyries had two new PRs on the day as Scout Nadeau finished second in the shot put with a career-best toss of 39 feet, 9.5 inches and Danika Bucklin was 15th in the 800 with a time of 2:40.26.

Nadeau was also third in the discus with a toss of 101 feet, 11.5 inches while Bucklin teamed up with Emma Pouwer, Ione Plummer and Afton Lambrecht to take sixth in the 4X100 relay with a time of 53.28 seconds.

Callie Gembala took second in the javelin with a toss of 103 feet while Zoey Albert took fourth and Zoe Guffin with 11th.

Inga Turner took seventh in the high jump and 11th in the long jump while Lambrecht took 12th in the 800 and Claire Jensen was 14th in the mile.

The Vikes and Vals both look to be in good shape heading into the district meet in Eureka this weekend as five Vikings and five Valkyries have already pre-qualified for state.

Jack Jensen enters district with Class B’s top time in the 1,600 and second-fastest time in the 800 while Johnson is third in the 110 hurdles, just .01 seconds ahead of Epperly in fourth.

Levi Peterson has the third best mark in the triple jump and Tristen Herd has the sixth best height in the pole vault. Nadeau leads a strong contingent of Valkyries’ throwers with B’s best mark in the shot put and third-best mark in the discus.

Maddi Chappuis is fifth in the state in the javelin and seventh in the shot put.

Albert has Class B’s second-best javelin toss this season.

Turner has the third best 100 hurdles time in Class B and is tied with teammate Pouwer for the eighth-best triple jump.
