The Valkyries held off a spirited Columbia Falls squad to earn a four-set Homecoming win Saturday, downing the Wildkats 25-23, 22-25, 25-14, 25-21.

Bigfork got 17 kills from Ava Davey and eight each from Gracie Saari and Piper Lee in the win, but needed to hold off a tenacious Wildkats comeback to win the first set.

After dropping the second set by three, the Vals righted the ship and won the next two to earn the victory.

Lee added five aces and three blocks to go along with her kill total while setter Piper Linson recorded 35 assists.

Defensively, the Vals were led by Taylor Howlett’s 25 digs while Davey added 18, Linson had 13 and Saari finished with 12.

It was a different story Thursday as the Vals fell at Hamilton, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.

With last week’s split, the Valkyries are in fourth place in the Northwest A Conference play at 4-3 with an overall record of 5-4.

The Vals will be at Ronan to take on the Maidens Thursday before hosting Whitefish Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
